Introduction to Iridology

Iridology is the analysis & assessment of an individual’s health and genetic predispositions using microscopic examination of the iris & pupils. John Andrews utilises the latest technology to examine, what is in essence the only visible aspect of the autonomic and central nervous systems that offers several reflex map projections of different systems of the body.

The frontal aspect of the eyes contains thousands of nerve endings and blood vessels that connect with parts of the brain and spinal nerves and also hypothalamus and other glands within the brain. Iridology offers a great deal of information on physical predisposition, previous medical history, genetic & emotional levels.

The initial Iridology procedure can take up to one hour and high resolution digital images will be captured. Although fiber optic lights are used, it is a lot less invasive than having your eyes tested and no substances are added to your eyes. The whole procedure is safe, reliable and painless. The images of the iris & pupil detail can be transferred onto CD for you. During the full 2 hour consultation you will be taken through the signs within your iris and inner pupillary border and their significance with John.

Interpretation of a patient’s symptoms may indicate that something is wrong, but it seldom reveals why. Symptoms are the end result of many different influences, processes and pathways - the tip of the iceberg, so to speak- to address them we need to identify exactly what the contributing factors, causes and system pathways are, the base to the tip of the iceberg. Iridology can help to identify the underlying process or foundation to those symptoms. Indeed Iridology is an opportunity to practice real preventative medicine. In many other countries Iridology is practiced more by medical doctors and tends to have greater medical integration than in the UK & USA.

Information about your Consultation

A personal consultation with John Andrews will include an in-depth Iridology examination, using the most recent digital imaging & microscope technology in this field. John may also utilise analysis of the fingernails or tongue using a pen torch, take your blood pressure, possibly use layered dried blood analysis or sanction urine or saliva tests. John will look at all aspects of lifestyle, personal and genetic medical history through the use of Iridology to ascertain the most advantageous treatment plan and advice for each person. Usually short-term advice is suggested followed by a longer-term plan of preventative action.

The initial consultation usually lasts for up to two hours for adults and one hour for children. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A follow-up consultation lasts for one hour. After the initial appointment John would usually consult with someone again between 4 to 6 weeks later. The schedule for the third appointment could be about 6 weeks later again. Sometimes this duration between appointments can either shorten or become two or three months depending on the particular problem or health concerns a person has.

John is very experienced with working with those taking prescription medicine or supplements and also has gained a lot of experience with collaborating with GPs or specialists, especially in other countries where they combine medicine with Iridology.

John likes to cover things from all possible angles to get to the root of why you are experiencing a particular problem or set of symptoms. He has found from experience that this helps to save a lot of time and guesswork, plus it clarifies, in most cases, the contributing pathways to why someone feels like they do, and probably, more importantly, this fine-tunes any advice that can be given on restoring and improving our health and energy.

At the end of the consultation John will usually provide you with advice based on your individual requirements, his extensive ongoing training and experience with thousands of patients in the UK and across the world. The advice may include information on herbal or homotoxicological formula, nutritional requirements involving foods to include or avoid within your diet, fluid intake, exercise patterns, stress reduction, emotional issues or other therapeutic protocols. A written report for future reference can be requested and is often offered.

* If you usually wear contact lenses it would be to our mutual advantage that these are removed before the Iridology examination. Thanks.

How long does treatment last?

People always ask, “How long will it take for me to get better?” which is a very good question, but one that is difficult to answer with any great accuracy.

There are many contributing factors - sometimes people have a condition or disease that requires long-term management, more often than not a person has had a condition for awhile before consulting with John – the more chronic and longstanding the problem has been, generally the longer the length of treatment is. A generalization in natural medicine is to expect a month’s worth of treatment for every year you have had a problem, but this is a very poor approximation. Stress factors, nutritional status, previous medical background, environmental influences, genetics, etc can all have a bearing on health and its maintenance.

As we are dealing with the aim of bringing the body back into balance, this can take time, as we need to cleanse, detoxify, stimulate, calm, balance or re-educate certain systems in the body. Usually a problem can take anywhere between one to six months to resolve in most cases, and you would see that improvements are occurring in that timeframe. Some conditions require long-term management strategies.

Frank Roberts, one of the great British Herbalists of the 20th century advised that people should give their herbalists time to treat a condition. Although certain herbal medicines can be powerful, they are generally a lot less stronger than pharmaceuticals and as they are helping to correct any imbalance in the body they can take longer to work, but with long-term results.
